A size chart · 77 twintips in the atlas

A 75 kg rider wants 136–142 cm to learn, 134–140 cm once riding, 133–139 cm once confident and 131–137 cm as an expert. These boards list no volume, so they are sized by length: centimetres from your weight, shifted a little by level.

These are rules of thumb, the ones shops and sizing guides quote, not any brand’s chart. Where a brand publishes its own rider weights they are below, and they should win.

What the Brands Say

29 kite twintip sizes from Duotone come with the brand’s own rider-weight range. At the middle of each range, the chart above puts 22 at First sessions, 6 at Getting there and 1 outside every level. A brand knows its own rails and thickness: when its range and the rule disagree, go with the brand.

Beyond the Length

The drawings show a near-rectangular board with identical rounded ends because there is no front or back: the rider switches direction without turning the board around. Length and width set planing and control. A typical range is about 127–148 cm long and 41–46 cm wide by rider weight, and larger, wider boards plane earlier in light wind while smaller ones hold down more power for big air. The bottom curve (rocker) tells you the style: flat for light-wind and school boards, medium for freeride and freestyle, and strongly banana-shaped for wakestyle. Rule of thumb: about 135–139 cm for a 64–68 kg (140–150 lb) rider and 141–148 cm for 91–100 kg (200–220 lb), with beginners staying on the larger side.

At the same length, a wider board is steadier and easier to start on, a narrower one quicker rail to rail. The finder’s cards say which is which among the boards at your size.

Questions

What size twintip for a beginner?

104 cm + 0.42 cm per kg, + 3 cm at your level, ± 3 cm: 129–135 cm at 60 kg, 136–142 cm at 75 kg and 142–148 cm at 90 kg. The ranges shrink level by level, so most riders move down a size as they progress.

What size twintip for a 60 kg rider?

129–135 cm to learn, 127–133 cm once riding, 126–132 cm once confident and 124–130 cm as an expert.

What size twintip for a 90 kg rider?

142–148 cm to learn, 140–146 cm once riding, 139–145 cm once confident and 137–143 cm as an expert.

Should I go by the brand’s size chart?

When it has one, yes: it knows its own rails and thickness. 29 kite twintip sizes in the atlas come with one, listed above.

Is length the only number that matters?

No: width changes how a board rides at the same length (above), and so do its rocker, rails and flex. Start from the length, then pick the shape.
